Anatomy Study day for O&G

To provide an intensive one-day anatomy course using cadaveric prosections to trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G).

Training relevant for ST1-ST7 
By the end of the course trainees will be able to: 
• Identify the important anatomical structures relevant to laparoscopy and to explain where to safely site entry ports 
• Identify the pelvic floor musculature and be able to describe the structures you would traumatise and repair following an episiotomy 
• Identify the structures damaged during a 3rd or 4th degree tear and to determine which type of repair is necessary 
• Appreciate the course of the ureters and its relations in the pelvis 
• Identify important pelvic vasculature including relations of the internal and external iliac vessels 
• Describe the course and the branches of the pudendal nerve and explain its relevance when providing local anaesthesia to the perineum 
• Identify the structures and steps involved in vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy
To be able to describe the surgical instruments used in a hysterectomy 

• Identify and isolate the uterine arteries 
• Describe which anatomical structures are relevant for urogynaecological procedures and prolapse repair
